Abasia: causes, symptoms, solutions. How Fido Stairclimber can help
The abasia presents varied causes, often difficult to trace. This puts a brake on the development of treatment solutions, so that, in most cases, the only solution is to act on the symptoms and reduce their impact on the quality of life. One way to do this is to use devices that support the patient in performing tasks that require solid motor coordination.
We talk about it here, offering an overview of the abasia, the possible causes and some of the devices capable of providing a concrete support: the Fido Saliscale trolleys.
What is the abasia
The abasia is not a real disease, but a syndrome, a disorder that manifests itself with specific symptoms, however numerous. The term comes from the Greek, that is from the privative particle “a” and from “basis”, that means “march”. Thus we understand the most evident manifestation of the abasia, namely the difficulty in walking correctly and, in extended, to maintain the station upright.
Those who suffer from abasia lack motor coordination, it is difficult to remain standing and steady on his legs.
This lack of coordination can lead to insecurity of movement or be accompanied by tremors and muscle contractions. At worst, we see the appearance of sudden and violent movements, spasmodic.
Abasia: causes and therapies
The main problem of abasia is the difficulty in identifying the causes. In fact, only in some cases it is due to a neurological injury. In most cases, however, no anatomical changes are reported.
Therefore, the scientific community assigns to the abasia mainly psychological causes, such as the difficult reworking of a trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder and depression. This association is also supported by the transience that often characterizes the disorder.
Therapy, when it can be attempted, involves psychotherapy and the taking of psychodrugs, which follows – of course – the diagnosis of psychiatric pathology.
Help for people with abasia
Abasia is a disabling disorder, which compromises the quality of life and leads to a drastic reduction in the degree of autonomy. This is already apparent when performing simple daily tasks, such as carrying light loads up the stairs to your apartment.
The abasics have difficulty walking, to stand on their legs, so you can understand the difficulty they feel when they have to carry objects.
The most common risk is to lose the grip on the object in question, perhaps following a tremor or a skid. Without forgetting the prospect, unfortunately anything but theoretical, to ruin on the ground with all the load.
All this translates into the need, for those suffering from anxiety, to ask for continuous assistance to relatives, friends and neighbors, even if the disorder was minor.
Since the healing path has an uncertain outcome and is characterized by extremely long times, it is therefore good to intervene with devices that can reduce both the effort and the risks related to the transport of cargo.
One idea could be the continuous use of electric ladder trolleys for domestic use. These trolleys walk independently along the stairs and at the same time carry not too heavy loads, for example shopping bags, shopping bags, various packages, even bags and suitcases.
On the market there are many models of electric ladder trolleys that boast a “domestic dimension”, therefore useful for ordinary people, rather than for operators who deliver goods for work in the apartment.
However, only a few are characterized by a comfortable user experience, immediacy and security guarantees. Among these are the Fido Stairclimber.
Fido Saliscale
Fido Stairclimbers stand out for their simple design, which suggests marked accessibility. The use of these devices is extremely intuitive. In fact, they are equipped with an adjustable and ergonomic handle, on which is mounted a button that gives the order to the device to walk the stairs.
The handling mechanism is based ongroups of three wheels and small tracks. A “double” mechanism, therefore, and capable of combining speed and safety of the load.
In addition, the Fido trolleys are also equipped with side wheels, so as to facilitate transport on flat, albeit uneven surfaces (e.g. pavements in deteriorated concrete).
The Fido line consists of three devices.
- Fido Standard, which alone represents a bargain for all those who have difficulty walking the stairs, and therefore also for the abasici.
- Fido Mate 30, which represents the evolution of the Standard in terms of speed and load capacity. The applications of the Mate 30 are therefore greater, and also involve the transport of medium-heavy loads.
- Fido Mate 30 Plus, which is the customizable version of the previous one. It’s possible to modify the supplied accessories and also intervene on the design, on the decorations.
The most sold model is certainly the Mate 30, which costs less than the Mate 30 Plus while ensuring the same performance. Here are its specifications.
Wide range -> 40 floors. High speed -> 40 steps per minute. Reduced weight -> 12 kg Reduced dimensions -> 55 x 40 x 80 cm when open / 55 x 15 x 80 cm when closed. |
